The South African National Foundation of Research are hosting a 2 day training on policy experimentation for African policymakers to embark on a National Programme of Transformation.
Professor Johan Schot, Academic Director of TIPC, said of the Transformative innovation Policy (TIP) training:
“South Africa is following an exciting approach to implementing TIP by building a national program on experimentation including a wide range of areas from human settlements and sustainable living, to renewables, biodiversity, lifelong learning and education, off-grid sanitation systems, 4th industrial digital transformations, with more to follow. This will generate many opportunities for learning across many systems. Looking forward to the engagement and programme that follows!”
The South African ministry for Science, Technology and Innovation is a lead mentor in the TIP Africa Hub. The TIP Africa Hub looks to develop TIP in Senegal, Ghana and Kenya. The Hub is coordinated by the Transformative Innovation Policy Consortium (TIPC) at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex Business School in the UK and funded by International Development Research Council (IDRC), Canada.
