Transformative Innovation Policy (TIP) seeks to explicitly address emerging environmental, social needs and other societal challenges. That is the main policy rationale and distinguishes it from Frames 1 and 2 as characterized by Schot and Steinmueller (2016).  The Transformative Innovation Policy Consortium (TIPC) has been mapping research funding and innovation initiatives using the ‘3 Frames’ outlined in the paper – Framing Innovation Policy For Transformative Change: Innovation Policy 3.0 (2016) – as the basis for discussion and analysis. Here we offer a synthesized summary of findings from this mapping exercise conducted in existing TIPC member countries – Colombia, Finland, Norway, South Africa and Sweden.
