In partnership with the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), TIPC has created an Africa Hub for Transformative Innovation Policy. The Hub is comprised of the following associates and members:

– The National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation of Kenya – NACOSTI
– The Science and Technology Policy Research Institute of Ghana – CSIR-STEPRI
– Cheikh Anta Diop University of Senegal – UCAD
– The National Research Foundation of South Africa – NRF

The NRF, a founding member of TIPC, will act as a mentor to the other three associates in their exploratory phases. The initial work was to map the STI policy development and ecosystem of the three countries using the TIP Frame 3 lens. This exercise, which resulted in a “five” page paper/report, set the scene for future work on TIP in each country. Following from this, each country selected a case-study that demonstrates transformative potential.

Across the exploratory phase, there were two transnational workshops for all four countries, where insights and challenges were shared with an aim of creating a regional understanding of TIP in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Regional Hub Lead: Chux Daniels
Countries Covered by Region: Ghana, Kenya, Senegal, South Africa
